Roger Federer, currently ranked world no. 7 in men’s singles tennis, has won 20 Grand Slam singles titles and is one of the biggest names in the sport. He started the tournament against Philipp Kohlschreiber in the first round at around 3pm (GMT) today. But the Swiss professional is not only one of the world’s greatest tennis players, he is also a family man. So is his wife Mirka in Dubai supporting him?

Mirka often travels around the globe to support her husband, having been a former tennis player herself, so it’s expected the Dubai Open 2019 will be no different.
In an exclusive interview with Tennis World USA, former coach of Roger Federer, Paul Annacone, explained how having Mirka cheering in the crowd helps Roger in tennis.
He said: “She is extremely smart. She knows tennis very well and most importantly she knows Roger.

“So she helps him in taking very important decisions. She has played a huge, huge part in his success.”
The former coach also reflected on the Swiss tennis player as a parent.
Mr Annacone said: “It helps him to play tennis because he relaxes a little bit.
“He handles the two things very well.”
