The tennis star spends most of his off-season training in the desert conditions
Dubai has a lot of famous residents. One of them is international tennis superstar and arguably the best tennis player the world has ever seen, Roger Federer.
His Dubai apartment has been talked about a lot in the past. FedEx as he is popularily known by his fans, lives in one of Dubai Marina’s sky high cluster of towers, Le Reve. He reportedly even has some famous neighbours including two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso.
In Le Reve, a 52-storey tower, a six-bedroom apartment in the same building had an asking price of Dhs59 million in 2015, according to The National.
The Sun reports that Federer’s apartment features five bedrooms with their own en-suite bathrooms, as well as a powder room in the expansive foyer.
The Swiss superstar reprotedly bought his apartment in 2014 and spends most of his off-season training in the desert conditions. He trains in the middle-east to get used to the heat and accommodate his body to humid conditions.
“I remember it was brutally hot, I think like 39 Celsius every day. But I had a good time practicing, it was peace and quiet and me kind of enjoyed it here. I was like, ‘You know, I think this works well for practice and leisure’. The next thing I knew, I had an apartment,” Federer once said in an interview.
In the same interview with tennis world he said: “[I] came on vacation I think back in 2004. And then when I came on the way back from Bangkok when I beat (Andy) Roddick, I think, in the finals there, I came through Dubai. Met up with Tony Roche for a practice session, sort of an undercover operation. I thought it was a direct flight for him, and let’s meet here and do a few days together,” he explained.
