WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury walked away from boxing with a shocking message last week and he solidified his decision by relinquishing the Ring Magazine heavyweight title

Tyson Fury is clearly enjoying his retirement as the former world heavyweight champion bellowed ‘retirement rocks’ while driving his new Ferrari.

Fury officially followed through on his sudden recent retirement by vacating the Ring Magazine heavyweight title. The Gypsy King went back on his declaration that he would be open to facing Joshua after he crushed Dillian Whyte in April by announcing his imminent retirement from the sport.

While sitting in his new Ferrari GTC4Lusso valued at £300,000, Fury told the camera he is enjoying his time away from the sport. He said: “Retirement rocks. Really enjoying retirement baby.

“Worked hard for this so enjoying ever single moment.”

Fury also posted images of turkey dinosaurs and chips – his favourite meal – on social media. The change of lifestyle has come after the WBC champion announced he is set on his decision to retire.

Just two days ago, Fury had claimed he was ready to come out of retirement and face Derek Chisora. The fighter backed up his words by relinquishing the prestigious Ring Magazine heavyweight title.

Fury’s intentions for the WBC heavyweight title remain unclear, although he has held talks with the Mexican sanctioning body’s president Mauricio Sulaiman. Sulaiman said: “Just finished a touching video conference with Tyson Fury who has confirmed his official retirement from boxing.

“We fully support his decision which is a dream for anyone to retire undefeated and as WBC champion of the world. WBC boxing will prepare a special farewell event soon.”

On his 34th birthday, Fury posted a statement announcing his intention to retire, reading: “Massive thanks to everyone who had an input in my career over the years and after long hard conversations I’ve finally decided to walk away and on my 34th birthday I say bon voyage.”

He has relinquished the Ring Magazine title and it is unclear what he will do with the WBC heavyweight strap – but he has held talks with the governing body’s president Mauricio Sulaiman. Sulaiman said: “Just finished a touching video conference with Tyson Fury who has confirmed his official retirement from boxing.

“We fully support his decision which is a dream for anyone to retire undefeated and as WBC champion of the world. WBC boxing will prepare a special farewell event soon.”

Across his illustrious career, Fury has claimed memorable wins over Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder – with the duo enduring an epic trilogy of fights – while the Brit is undefeated with 32 wins and one draw.

The news of his retirement will still come as a surprise to many. Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has already suggested his client has ‘itchy feet’ and he has been searching for his next opponent and next opportunity to enter the ring.

It remains to be seen whether Fury is adamant that he has indeed fought his final bout. Few people believed his initial retirement claim, and less will likely believe his latest announcement as earlier this week his US promoter Bob Arum even suggested Fury should not be taken seriously.
