Every competitive figure needs someone or something to keep them motivated. For Roger Federer that someone is his wife Mirka Federer. The 41-year-old revealed how his wife helped him achieve his ambitions and never let him slip past his dreams.
Back in 2017 when Federer won the Australian Open, he credited Mirka for helping him come this far. “She’s been there when I had no titles. She’s still here 89 titles later, so she had a big part to play in [the win]. She knows it, I know it, everybody knows it. She’s a mum No. 1 and a wife, and only then later does she become the supporter,” quoted Federer in admiration of his wife.
That wasn’t the end of Federer applauding Mirka Federer for her efforts. He paid an adorable tribute to his wife when he announced his retirement from the sport last year in 2022. “I would like to especially thank my amazing wife, Mirka, who has lived through every minute with me. She has warmed me up before finals, and watched countless matches even while over 8 months pregnant,” spoke the Swiss tennis icon.

Roger Federer and Mirka Federer first crossed paths with one another in September 2000. It was the Summer Olympics and their representation of Switzerland in the iconic games that ignited their story.
“On the last day of the evening before she went to Tokyo and I went back to Switzerland, we kissed and we didn’t know where it was gonna take us, but here we are almost 20 years later,” spoke Roger Federer.

Later in January 2002 the duo made their relationship public and made an appearance at the Hopman Cup as doubles partners. They ultimately tied the knot in 2009 which took place in Basil, Switzerland with just a small group of close friends and family.
